Dancing with the Stars - Cruise Venues

Regent Seven Seas Cruises - New Ballroom Dancing Entertainment - Fort Lauderdale - March 26, 2008 - Regent recently announced the completion of a multi-million dollar upgrade of its entertainment programming aboard three of its ships, including the addition of professional ballroom dance teams, new productions featuring "The Regent Singers and Dancers," and the largest live orchestra aboard any luxury cruise line.

These new production shows will feature elegant ballroom dancing and pulse-pounding music with more energy, texture and variety," said Lyn Farmer, director of entertainment and special events for Regent Seven Seas.

In celebration of the ballroom dance craze sweeping the nation thanks to "Dancing with the StarsTM" and other programs, several of the new shows feature professional ballroom couples performing original choreography showcasing Latin, swing, waltz and other dance styles. The dancers even offer complimentary lessons for guests on days at sea.

The nine-piece "Regent Signature Orchestra" performs aboard 700-guest all-suite, all-balcony Seven Seas Mariner® and Seven Seas Voyager®, and 490-guest, all-suite Seven Seas Navigator®.  This talented unit lends concert-quality musical support to production shows and breaks into smaller units for combo performances around the ships, allowing late-night cocktails or afternoon tea in one of the lounges to be complemented by the mellow sounds of a live jazz trio.

The new shows include new cabaret revues and five new feature productions for each ship, all with live music by the orchestra and a permanent cast of up to 10 singers and dancers (shorter cruises typically feature three production shows; longer cruises feature four or five).

Royal Caribbean Opens Dance Floor To Vacationers In New Production Show - MIAMI, January 9, 2008 - Royal Caribbean International guests can Rumba, Samba, Cha-Cha, Waltz or Swing into the spotlight in "Invitation to Dance," the cruise line's newest production show featuring guests as stars aboard Explorer of the Seas. Created in conjunction with Louis van Amstel, Emmy-nominated choreographer for ABC-TV's "Dancing with the Stars," and Cheryl Burke, two-time winner on the show, "Invitation to Dance" transports the world of professional ballroom dancing to the high seas.

Guests sailing on Explorer have the opportunity to compete for the honor of best ballroom dancers at sea. With the guidance of professional dancers, stylists and make-up artists, guests may just realize their true calling while on vacation.

"Invitation to Dance' is another example of Royal Caribbean's dynamic and innovative approach to offering engaging entertainment and activities for our guests," said Peter Compton, vice president, Entertainment and Guest Activities, Royal Caribbean International. "With all the excitement surrounding competitive dancing on television, we are now challenging our guests to live out a dream while enjoying their cruise vacation."

Chosen during an evening of ballroom dancing at the beginning of each cruise, four couples are selected to participate in the "Invitation to Dance" production show later that week. The finalists work with Royal Caribbean's professional ballroom couples to learn slick dance moves, attend costume fittings, and receive star treatment in preparation for their Royal Caribbean stage debut. Showtime is an exciting evening in the spotlight for the dancing couples as they join the Royal Caribbean cast on stage and compete against each other for the applause and support of their fellow guests.
